Council Action Items
A.
Consideration to Authorize the Green River Fire Department Submit a 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Application for a Pumper/Tender Truck
The Green River Fire Department is requesting permission to apply for the 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG). The Grant period is now open and will close on Feb 2nd. The Green River Fire Department would like to apply for a new Pumper/Tender. Our trucks are aging out of their life cycle.   The oldest of which is a 1991 Pierce and a second is a 1996 Pierce. We have made some changes with our trucks converting one of our 2011 Pierce into a Rescue truck. Looking into the future with the interest in the Airport we need something to carry the capacity of water for areas that have no water source.

Suggested Motion: I move to authorize the Green River Fire Department's submission of a 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant application for a new Pumper/Tender truck. The estimated cost of the truck is $725,000, if awarded the City's match would be approximately $36,250.
B.
Consideration to Authorize the Green River Fire Department Submit a 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Application for Bunkers

The Fire Department will be applying for forty (40) complete sets of turnout gear (Bunkers) to include: coat, pants, suspenders, hood, boots, gloves, and helmet.

Suggested Motion:
I move to authorize the Green River Fire Department to submit a 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant application for new bunkers, in the amount of $123,000 if awarded the City's match would be approximately $6,150.
C.
Consideration to Authorize the Green River Fire Department Submit a 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Application for Training Assistance
The Green River Fire Department is requesting permission to apply for the 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG). The Grant period is now open and will close on February 2nd. The Green River Fire Department would like to apply for assistance for training to bring our firefighters to a minimum of Firefighter II level. AFG highly suggests there be 90% of firefighters at Firefighter II level.

Suggested Motion:
I move to authorize the Green River Fire Department to submit a 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant application for training assistance, in the amount of $12,000 with the City's match to be approximately $600.
D.
Consideration to apply for and accept Rec Mil Funds for 2018 Summer Day Camp Transportation
The City of Green River Parks and Recreation Department currently offers Summer Day Camp for children K-6th grade for the upcoming school year.  Each day participants are engaged in group activities that combine both physical and educational components.  We utilize a School District #2 facility to offer the program and then children are bussed to different locations for additional activities and field trips by School District #2 transportation.  Currently, the City does not have the means of transporting the children in the program and we have built a great partnership with the School District to provide safe and efficient transportation for this program.

Suggested Motion: I move to approve the Parks and Recreation Department to apply for and accept Rec Mil funds in the amount of $8,300 from School District #2 for transportation expenses for the 2018 Summer Day Camp Program.
E.
