Chris Steffen, Chief of Police reports:

The following events were reported on July 19, 20, 21, 2013:


Officers towed a vehicle tagged as abandoned from West Railroad.

On July 19, Officers responded to an address on Indian Hills regarding yelling and threats. At the time no one reported any assaults taking place. Later on July 19, Officers were assisting some of those involved in the earlier disturbance and were told there were assaults that occurred during the disturbance reported earlier. The case has been referred to the Prosecuting Attorneys Office.

Officers took a report of a destruction of property on Indian Hills. A suspect was interviewed and admitted to causing the damage. The complaint has been referred to the Prosecutors Office.

Officers conducted a funeral escort.

Officers were dispatched to a local park for an 8 year old child who had accidently been left behind by a day care provider.

Officers took a report of a stolen truck from Railroad Avenue. The truck was later found by Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Department Deputies unattended, on Purple Sage Road after being called in as a suspicious vehicle.

Officers were dispatched to a drainage ditch between Logan and Jensen regarding a subject yelling and crying. Officers arrived and observed a male subject in the ditch who was unable to climb out of the ditch due to his level of intoxication. The subject identified as Israel Simon Espinoza of Green River was arrested for Public Intoxication and possession of a controlled substance/marijuana.

Ian Parker of Green River was cited for failure to secure a vehicle, after he parked his vehicle and it later rolled from the parked position, into traffic, across a street and into a fence.

Officers were dispatched to McDonalds regarding two individuals causing problems. The two subjects were reportedly hitting and kicking vehicles in the parking lot, and kicking the doors at McDonalds. The two subjects left prior to the Officers arrival but they were located. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Seth Alan Trafton of Rock Springs, he was arrested on an arrest warrant issued out of the Rock Springs Circuit Court. The passenger was identified as Jason W. Prime from Green River, he was arrested for Public Intoxication. A McDonald’s employee later reported damage to her vehicle which was parked in the parking lot during the time of this incident.

Officers investigated a crash which occurred on Upland Way. The drivers of each vehicle one a juvenile and the other Christopher Bowles of Green River were cited for careless driving.

ACO’s responded to an address on Singletree regarding a Badger.

ACO’s responded to West Flaming Gorge regarding a contained bat.

Officers responded to an address on Mississippi where the resident reported a bike being abandoned in the neighborhood several weeks earlier. If your child is missing his/her bike call the Green River Police Department and ID the bike.

Officers responded to a 911 call at a business on Flaming Gorge, the call was a result of phone line problems.

Officers responded to an address on 5th East for an ongoing civil matter.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Bridger regarding a door to door salesman.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Madison and Adams regarding a disturbance. The occupants were contacted and the disturbance stopped.

Officers were requested at an address at 98 Uinta regarding stolen vehicle. Officers determined that the reported stolen vehicle was a civil issue between the two persons.

Officers responded to a citizen assist a citizen on Maryland.

Officers conducted a funeral escort.

ACO’s responded to an address on South Wagon Wheel to check the welfare of a dog.

ACO’s responded to an address on East Teton regarding a dog at large.

Officers assisted medical personnel on Mansface St.

ACO’s were requested to do a welfare check on horses at the horse corrals.

Officers conducted a civil standby on South Wagon Wheel.

Officers talked with a concerned parent whose child was having an ongoing online conversation with a male subject much older. The Green River Police Department encourages parents to monitor the computer usage of their young children and have discussions with their children regarding the information they share online with others and online/internet safety.

Officers were dispatched to the Railroad yards regarding a transient who was drunk and riding a train.

Officers were requested at Smith’s Food to remove a subject who was harassing and disturbing customers.

ACO’s responded to a dog running loose on Bridger. One black and white dog on a leash was impounded at the animal shelter.

Found jewelry was turned into the PD, it was located around 2nd North and Center. Anyone loosing jewelry that can identify the type and provide a description of the jewelry can pick it up at the PD.

ACO’s were dispatched to the area of Hitching Post and Monroe for a dog running loose.

Officers assisted medical personnel on Log Cabin.

Officers responded to an address on West Teton regarding a barking dog.

A citizen turned over found drug paraphernalia to the Police Department.

Officers conducted a welfare check on Hillcrest.

Officers responded to an address on Shoshone to search a building after someone reported hearing suspicious noises coming from the building after it was closed.

Officers responded to a disturbance on Center at Flaming Gorge.

Officers found an unsecure door on a local establishment.

Officers responded to an address on West Teton regarding a badger digging a hole next to the resident’s front porch.

Officers conducted a citizen assist on Maryland.

Officers responded to a parking problem on Railroad Ave.

ACO’s responded to 3rd South in reference to a dog running loose.

ACO’s responded to Astle and Jensen to a dog running loose.

Officers assisted medical personnel on Kansas.

Officers assisted medical personnel on 2nd North.

Officers responded to a residence on Elk Mountain regarding an alarm.

Officers assisted medical personnel on Wild Horse Canyon Road.

Officers received a complaint of overnight parking on Wild Horse Canyon Road.

Officers assisted a citizen with an animal problem on Barnhart.

Officers responded to an alarm for a business on Flaming Gorge.

Officers responded to the area of Logan and Bramwell regarding a REDDI report. Vehicle was located parked and unoccupied.

Officers responded to an address on Juniper regarding youth playing in the street/causing a disturbance late into the evening. Youth were contacted and agreed to quiet down.
