Chris Steffen, Chief of Police reports:

The following events were reported on August 6, 2013:


Officers were dispatched to the Bridger Drive Loaf and Jug, in reference to a 2 vehicle crash.

Officers responded to an address on Blake Street, in regards to a parking complaint.

Animal Control Officers were dispatched to the area of Bridger Drive and Essex Street, in reference to a dog at large. Officers were unable to capture the dog, but they were able to chase to its residence, where the owner was warned.

Officers responded to the Green River High School, in reference to an audible alarm. It was determined that the alarm was set off accidentally.

Animal Control Officers were dispatched to an address on Keith Drive, in regards to a barking dog complaint.

Animal Control Officers responded to an address on Faith Drive, in reference to a skunk in a trap.

Animal Control Officers responded to an address on Wilkes Drive, in regards to a stray cat at the residence.

Officers assisted a citizen, over the phone, with questions about parking ordinances.

Animal Control Officers responded to the Green River Recreation Center, in reference to a dog at large.

Officers responded to an address on East Flaming Gorge Way, in reference to a destruction of property report. Investigation ongoing.

Officers investigated a parking complaint in the area of Scott’s Bottom Nature Area.

Officers conducted a civil standby on Keith Drive.

Officers and Ambulance Personnel responded to the horse corrals at Scott’s Bottom, in reference to a female that had been bucked off a horse.

While investigating a parking complaint in the area of Veterans Park, Officers issued Jonathan Mortimer, 31 years old, a citation for Open Container.

Animal Control Officers responded to the Animal Shelter, in reference to adopting out a dog.

Green River Police Department Officers, as well as Sweetwater County Sheriffs Deputies were called to the area of the red barn on FMC road, to investigate a group of males that were shooting guns unsafely. The subjects were located and advised.

Animal Control Officers were dispatched to an address on Alamosa Circle, in regards to an injured hawk.

Officers and Animal Control Officers were dispatched to an address on New Jersey Lane, in reference to a report of a pigmy rattlesnake under the reporting party’s front porch.


The Green River Police Department would like to remind the citizens of Green River, that there has been a large influx of rattlesnakes in town this summer. Rattlesnakes rarely bite unless provoked or threatened. Please be sure to contact the Police Department and allow the Officers and Animal Control Officers to handle a snake if located on your property.
