Chris Steffen, Chief of Police reports:

The charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The following events were reported between 6:00 a.m. on February 28, 2014 and 6:00 a.m. on March 1, 2014:

Officers responded to the Green River Police Department lobby, in regards to several citizen assists.

Officers completed VIN inspections at the Green River Police Department and at addresses on East Teton Boulevard and Wyoming Drive.

Animal Control Officers responded to a call at an address on Ridge Crossing, in reference to citizen assist that had questions about pets.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Iowa Avenue, in reference to an agency assist. Officers assisted a deputy with Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office serve a civil warrant.

Officers responded to the Green River Police Department, in regards to found property. Upon further investigation, a report was completed for Wrongful Taking or Disposing of Property.

Officers responded to a location on North 4th West, in reference to a report of a traffic hazard.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Shoshone Avenue, in regards to a parking complaint. Officers tagged the vehicle for the parking violation.

Officers assisted a motorist on Uinta Drive.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Bridger Drive, in reference to an agency assist. Officers assisted Department of Family Services with a welfare check at the address.

Animal Control Officers responded to the Green River Animal Shelter, in regards to a found dog. The dog’s owner was located and the two were reunited.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Uinta Drive, regarding a two vehicle crash in which a vehicle backed into another vehicle. One driver was issued a citation for Inattentive Driving.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Missouri Court, in reference to a welfare check.

Animal Control Officers were dispatched to an address on Maryland Drive, in regards to a report of a nuisance animal. Animal Control Officers contacted the owner of the animal and issued a warning.

Officers responded to an address on Fox Hills Drive, in reference to a report of suspicious activity.

Animal Control Officers took a report of a dog bite at an address on College Drive.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Logan Street, in reference to a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the reporting party who advised nothing was missing but a few things appeared out of place.

Officers were dispatched to an address on West Teton Boulevard, in reference to a verbal dispute. While at the address Officers issued a citation for Trespassing to one of the subjects for violating a previous trespass warning.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Wilkes Drive, regarding a commercial alarm. Upon arrival, Officers determined everything was okay.

Officers responded to an address on Monroe Avenue, in reference to a noise complaint.


The following events were reported between 6:00 a.m. on March 1, 2014 and 6:00 a.m. on March 2, 2014:

Officers responded to the Green River Police Department lobby, in reference to a citizen assist.

Amanda Vaughn, age 31, was arrested per an active Green River Municipal Court Warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on an original charge of Driving While Under Suspension.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Uinta Drive, in regards to a report of a larceny. The reporting party advised a customer did not pay for fuel for their vehicle.

Officers completed a VIN inspection on Logan Street.

Officers responded to an address on Maryland Drive, in reference to a citizen assist.

Animal Control Officers were dispatched to an address on Iowa Avenue, regarding a report of a small black and white dog at large.

Officers responded to the area west of the water treatment plant, in regards to a report of illegal dumping.

Officers took an informational report from an address on Wilson Street.

Officers responded to an address on Nolan Street, in reference to a citizen assist.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Uinta Drive, regarding a welfare check. Upon arrival, Officers contacted parties involved and determined everything was okay.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Wilson Street, in regards to a 911 call. Upon further investigation, it was reported a physical domestic altercation occurred in which one party threatened the other with a knife. Richard Wheeler, age 50, was arrested for Aggravated Assault and Battery; Threaten with a Weapon.

Officers responded to an address on West Railroad Avenue, in reference to a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers contacted parties involved in a verbal dispute and issued a trespass warning to an individual for the property.

Officers assisted a motorist on Uinta Drive.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Cumorah Way, in reference to a welfare check.

Officers responded to an address on Logan, in reference to a report of a suspicious person. The reporting party observed two suspicious males walking in the neighborhood late at night.


The following events were reported between 6:00 a.m. on March 2, 2014 and 6:00 a.m. on March 3, 2014:

Animal Control Officers responded to the Green River Animal Shelter, and met with a resident who turned in a found cat to the shelter.

Officers responded to the Green River Police Department lobby, in reference to a citizen assist.

Animal Control Officers were dispatched to an address on Bridger Drive, in reference to a found dog. The owner of the dog also responded to the area and retrieved the animal.

Officers responded to an address on Maryland Drive, in reference to a citizen assist.

Officers assisted a deputy with the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office serve an arrest warrant at an address on Uinta Drive.

Officers were dispatched to an unsecured property on Elm Street. Neighbors reported an open door at the residence for a long period of time. Upon arrival, Officers determined everything was okay and secured the property.

Officers responded to an address on the west end of Riverview Drive, in reference to a 911 call. Dispatch advised the call sounded like a line problem.

Officers assisted Castle Rock Ambulance personnel at an address on Hutton Circle.

Officers completed VIN inspections at addresses on Waggener Circle, Arkansas Drive and Colorado Circle.

Officers responded to an address on Cumorah Way, regarding a citizen assist.

Officers were dispatched to an address on South Wagonwheel, in reference to a fire alarm. Upon arrival, the fire alarm was cancelled by the alarm company and confirmed to be a false alarm.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Wilson Street, in reference to a dispute. During the investigation, it was determined a verbal dispute occurred and officers remained on scene for a civil standby.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Cumorah Way, in regards to a 911 call. Upon arrival, Officers contacted the resident and determined the call was accidental.

Officers responded to an address on Uinta Drive, in reference to a noise complaint. Officers contacted persons in the area and addressed the complaint.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Crossbow Drive, in reference to a medical call. Officers arrived at the location and the party did not want an ambulance to be called at this time.

Officers responded to an address on Uinta Drive, in reference to a report of found property. Officers were given a set of keys that were found at the business. If you’ve lost a set of keys, contact the Green River Police Department to identify the found keys to see if they are yours.

Officers were dispatched to the area of East Railroad Avenue, in reference to a report of suspicious persons. Upon arrival, Officers contacted the reporting party who advised individuals had trespassed on railroad property.

Officers responded to an address on Uinta Drive, in regards to a report of a traffic complaint. The reporting party did not want to file a complaint just wanted to make the Officers aware of it.
