Chris Steffen, Chief of Police reports:

The charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The following events were reported between 6:00 a.m. on April 25, 2014 and 6:00 a.m. on April 26, 2014:

Officers responded to an address on Schultz Street, in reference to a report of a hit and run vehicle crash. The reporting party stated their vehicle was parked on the street in front of their residence and was struck by an unknown vehicle during the night.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Ironwood Street, in regards to a report of a traffic complaint. Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle who advised the vehicle would be moved.

Animal Control Officers responded to the area of East 4th South, in regards to a report of several small dogs at large.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Cedar Street, in regards to a report of a parking complaint. Officers spoke with a responsible party for the vehicle.

Officers assisted Castle Rock Ambulance personnel at an address on Evers Street.

Nuisance Officer responded to an address on Hutton Street, in regards to a nuisance property complaint. A notice was left at the address.

Officers responded to the area of West Flaming Gorge Way and Wild Horse Canyon Road, in reference to a hit and run vehicle crash. The reporting party stated as they turned north onto Wild Horse Canyon Road, from West Flaming Gorge Way, a vehicle struck a trailer being towed and left the scene.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Hitching Post Drive, in regards to an alarm. The alarm was determined to be a test.

Officers completed VIN inspections at the Green River Police Department and addresses on: Hitching Post Drive, Hawaii Court, West 2nd North, Riverview Drive, East 4th South, Firehole Place, Juniper Street, New Mexico Street and Blake Street.

Officers were dispatched to an address on South Wagonwheel Drive, in reference to a report of harassing text messages.
Officers responded to an address on South 1st West, in regards to a report of two vicious dogs. The owner was later identified and issued two citations.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of East Teton Boulevard and Monroe Avenue, in reference to a two vehicle crash.

Officers responded to the area of the Stratton Myer Park boat ramp, in regards to found property. The item located was a bicycle. If you’ve lost a bicycle contact the Green River Police Department to see if this is yours.

Officers responded to the Green River Police Department lobby, in regards to a citizen assist.

Officers took a report of stalking from a residence on Schultz Street.

Officers responded to the Green River Adult Probation and Parole Office, in reference to an agency assist. Upon arrival, Ray Haapala, age 34, was arrested per an Arrest and Hold Order for a Probation Violation on an original charge of Burglary.

Officers were dispatched to the area of East Flaming Gorge Way, in regards to a report of a two vehicle crash. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the drivers and determined one vehicle backed into the other vehicle.

Officers responded to the Green River Police Department lobby, in regard a report of harassment. The reporting party advised they had received harassing text messages.

Officers were dispatched to an address on North 6th West, in reference to a citizen assist.

Officers responded to an address on Crossbow Drive, in regards to a welfare check on a suspicious person. Officers made contact with the individual who advised they were okay.

Officers were dispatched to an address on South Wagonwheel Drive, in reference to a report of a runaway. Officers determined the report of a runaway was unfounded as a miscommunication occurred between parents of the child.

Officers responded to an address on New Hampshire Street, in reference to a report of a juvenile runaway. The case is being investigated by the GRPD Detective Division.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Cumorah Way, in regards to a report of a juvenile problem. The reporting party stated a juvenile received an inappropriate text message from another juvenile.

Officers responded to an address on Madison Avenue, in reference to a citizen assist. The reporting party was having problems with an adult child who was under the influence of alcohol.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Wind River Drive, in regards to a report of a juvenile problem. Officers contacted the parties involved and the situation was resolved.

Officers responded to an address on Bridger Drive, in reference to a report of a disturbance.

Officers responded to an address on Flaming Gorge Way, in regards to a report of threats. The reporting party had questions pertaining to a protection order.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Trona Drive, regarding a report of suspicious persons at an address. Officers contacted the individuals who had permission to be at the address.

Officers responded to I-80, in reference to a report of a suspicious person. Officers contacted the individual, whose vehicle had broken down.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Wilderness Trail, in reference to a noise disturbance. Officers contacted the responsible party for the address who was issued a citation for Permitting a House Party Where Minors Were Present.


The following events were reported between 6:00 a.m. on April 26, 2014 and 6:00 a.m. on April 27, 2014:

Officers responded to an address on Maryland Drive, regarding a citizen assist.

Officers completed a VIN inspection at an address on South 5th West.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Bridger Driver, in reference to a vehicle crash. The driver reported pushing the accelerator rather than the brake and struck a fence.

Animal Control Officers responded to an address on East 4th South, in regards to a report of a dog at large.

Animal Control Officers were dispatched to an address on Virginia Drive, in regards to a cat in a trap.

Officers responded to an address on West Teton Boulevard, regarding a citizen assist.

Officers responded to an address on Wild Horse Canyon Road, in reference to a fire alarm. The Green River Fire Department personnel reported the alarm was false alarm.

Officers were dispatched to an address on South Carolina Drive for a civil standby.

Officers responded to an address on West 3rd North, in reference to a welfare check. Officers contacted the resident and were advised everything was okay.
Officers were dispatched to an address on Hitching Post Drive, in regards to a report of a larceny. The reporting party stated an unknown person stole their cell phone.

Officers responded to the area of Cumorah Way, in reference to a report of suspicious persons and vehicles.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Iowa Circle, in regards to a 911 hang up call. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the residents and reported everything was okay.

Officers were dispatched to an address on South Wagonwheel Drive, in regards to a report of a larceny. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the reporting party who decided they did not want to file a report regarding the property.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Colorado Street, in reference to a welfare check. Officers contacted the resident who advised they were okay and would contact the concerned party.

Officers responded to an address on California Way, in reference to a dog at large call. The dogs were located and returned to the owner.

The following events were reported between 6:00 a.m. on April 27, 2014 and 6:00 a.m. on April 28, 2014:

Officers responded to an address on Maryland Drive, regarding a citizen assist.

Officers were dispatched to an address on California Drive, in reference to an alarm. Upon arrival, Officers contacted the homeowner who advised the alarm was accidentally set off.

Officers assisted Castle Rock Ambulance personnel at an address on Juniper Street.

Officers were dispatched to an address on West Teton Boulevard, in reference to an alarm. Officers checked the area, contacted the home owner and reported everything was okay.

Officers responded to an address on Cedar Street, in regards to a citizen assist.

Officers completed a VIN inspection at an address on Miller Street.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Cumorah Street, in regards to a citizen assist.

Officers responded to an address on West Teton Boulevard, regarding a citizen assist.

Officers assisted Castle Rock Ambulance personnel at an address on Mansface Street.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Upland Way, in reference to a vehicle crash. A vehicle struck a parked and unoccupied vehicle and came to rest in the front yard of a residence. The driver, Joanna Clement, age 32, was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence Alcohol.

Officers assisted Castle Rock Ambulance personnel at an address on Moran Drive.

Officers responded to an address on Crossbow Drive, in regards to a report of a suspicious person. Officers contacted the individual and reported everything was okay.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Shoshone Avenue, in reference to a juvenile problem. Officers conducted a welfare check of the juvenile and spoke with parents and reported everything was okay.

Officers responded to an address on South 5th East, regarding a noise complaint. The residents were reportedly remodeling and advised they would stop for the night.

Officers responded to an address on North 7th West, in reference to a civil issue.
