Chris Steffen, Chief of Police reports:

The charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The following events were reported between 6:00 a.m. on September 3, 2014 and 6:00 a.m. on September 4, 2014:


Officers were dispatched to an address on Uinta Drive, in reference to a 911 hang up call. Upon arrival, Officers checked the area, reported everything was okay and the call appeared to be a line problem.

Officers transported four inmates from the Sweetwater County Detention Center to the Green River Municipal Court for court hearings.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Wild Horse Canyon Road on three occasions, in reference to 911 hang up calls. Officers determined on all three occasions the calls were accidental.

Animal Control Officers responded to an address on Ironwood Street, regarding a cat in a trap.

Officers completed VIN inspections at the Green River Police Department and at an address on Pennsylvania Boulevard.

Officers responded to an address on East Flaming Gorge Way, in regards to a report of an abandoned vehicle. Officers tagged the vehicle as abandoned.

Officers responded to an address on New Mexico Street, in reference to a citizen assist.

Animal Control Officers responded to an address on Pennsylvania Boulevard, in regards to a report of a contained dog. Animal Control Officers picked up the dog and took it to the Green River Animal Shelter.

Officers responded to an address on Monroe Avenue, in reference to a report of a juvenile problem.

Officers responded to an address on Clark Street, in regards to a report of harassment. The reporting party stated they received a harassing text message from a social media website.

Officers responded to Green River High School, in reference to a possible weapons offense. After a brief investigation with school personnel, it was determined the call was a misunderstanding between students. No weapon was at the school; rather a student was wearing a shirt with a graphic design of a gun on the shirt. The Green River Police Department appreciates and encourages anyone who sees a safety concern to say something.

Officers responded to an address on Boulder Drive, in regards to a vehicle collision. The reporting party advised the vehicle rolled forward and struck the garage.

Officers responded to an address on Madison Avenue, regarding a medical call.

Officers were dispatched to an address on New Mexico Street, in reference to a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers contacted the resident and addressed the call.

Officers responded to an address on Mansface Street, in regards to a report of lost property. The item was later located by the reporting party.

Animal Control Officers responded to an address on Virginia Drive, regarding a cat in a trap. The cat was taken by Animal Control Officers to the Green River Animal Shelter.

Officers attempted to locate a vehicle described in a REDDI report on West Flaming Gorge Way.

Officers responded to an address on West Flaming Gorge Way, in reference to a citizen assist. The reporting party thought a vehicle struck a retaining wall, although there was no damage found to the retaining wall.

Officers were dispatched to an address on Mansface Street, in reference to a medical alarm. Upon arrival, Officers determined the call was accidental.

Officers responded to an address on South Wagonwheel Drive, in regards to a report of harassment. The reporting party stated they received a harassing text message.

Officers responded to the area of Shoshone Avenue and Uinta Drive, in reference to an animal call. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the reporting party who thought they struck a dog. The dog was described as a brown dog that ran away. Officers reported the vehicle sustained no damage and the dog was not located.
