Officers contacted a resident by telephone, in reference to a report of an attempted scam. The reporting party received a phone call from a male with a foreign accent who identified themselves as John Harris with the Green River Sheriff's Office. The caller stated the reporting party had a warrant and would be arrested if payment was not made. The caller told the reporting party his contact number was 307-922-5300 (which is a number for the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office).
However, the call instructed the reporting party to call another individual named Alex Watson to make payment arrangements at a phone number with a 410 area code (Maryland). The reporting party did not have a warrant and no one with the name of John
Harris works at the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office.
