Officers contacted a resident who reported an attempted phone scam. The reporting party received a phone call from an individual with foreign accent who claimed to be with the US Department of Treasury. The reporting party was advised they needed to make a payment to avoid legal action and was advised a certified letter had been previously sent. The reporting party researched the incident on line and determined it was scam. The reporting party did not give out any personal information and reported no monetary loss.
