Officers responded to a report of an attempted phone scam from a phone number with a 909 area code. The reporting party received a phone call from an individual with a foreign accent who claimed to be with the Department of Internal Affairs. The caller claimed there was warrant for back taxes issued. The reporting party knew this was not true, recognized the call to be a scam and did not provide any personal information to the caller.
