[ARCHIVED] City to residents: Green River ice not safe for pedestrian traffic

The Green River Police Department would like to remind you, as citizens, that the ice on the Green River is not safe for pedestrian foot traffic. Even though the river is frozen at the surface, it does not freeze solid all the way down. There is running water beneath the ice and one would be swept away by the current if the ice breaks through. The City encourages you to be safe on and around the frozen ice in Green River. Have a safe and happy holiday season.
