Ray D Haapala, age 32, of Green River, was arrested on 5/17/12 at 6:48 pm on E Teton Blvd For Burglary and Possession of Methamphetamine. Officers were dispatched to the Municipal Horse Corrals regarding an Auto Burglary. The victim reported her purse was stolen from her vehicle and the suspect was a white male wearing a dark colored “hoodie” and carrying a bright orange backpack. The victim said the suspect was running west on E Teton Blvd when last seen. Officers checked the area of the Greenbelt behind the corrals west to the Game and Fish building. Officers located a male carrying an orange backpack behind Lasco Storage and when the suspect saw officers he dropped the backpack and attempted to run. Officers caught the suspect and subsequent investigation identified the suspect as Haapala. Items belonging to the victim were found in Haapala’s possession along with a syringe and suspected methamphetamine. The victim identified her property and a second witness identified Haapala as the subject he was in the victim’s car. Haapala was taken into custody and transported to jail.
A 10 year old male and an 11 year old male were taken into custody for Shoplifting on 5/17/12 at 4:40 pm on Bridger Drive. The juveniles were later release to their parents and a report was forwarded to the City Prosecutor for review.
A 14 year old juvenile was arrested for Curfew and No Driver’s license on 5/17/12 at 01:44 am on E 4th S. The juvenile was later released to her parent and a report was forwarded to the City Prosecutor for review.
A Runaway report was taken on Wyoming Drive when the parent of a 16 year old female reported her missing. The juvenile’s information was forwarded to law enforcement agencies nationwide with a pickup and hold order signed by the parent.
A Runaway report was taken on Mountain View Drive when a parent of a 17 year female reported her missing. Her information was also forwarded to law enforcement agencies nationwide. The two girls are believed to be traveling together in the 17 year old’s car.
Officers investigated a report of Child Abuse on Missouri Ct. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Officers assisted a Sheriff Deputy with a motorist assist on Uinta Drive when a vehicle’s radiator hose broke and the vehicle became disabled. The deputy and officer pushed the vehicle into a parking area and the owner arranged for a tow.
Officers assisted an elderly male on Mansface Street who had fallen and needed assistance getting to his feet.
Officers investigated a report of an Attempted Fraud on Alabama Drive when the victim reported she received a phone call from a male who advised he was her grandson who was in jail in Mexico. The male said he needed $1800 for a lawyer. The victim checked with her family and learned her grandson was not in Mexico and in Green River. No loss was reported. The Green River Police Department would again like to remind our citizens that there are many types of frauds out there and to be aware not to send money or give out personal information without confirming information. When in doubt inform police.
Animal Control Officers responded to a report of a dog at large on Jensen Street; upon arrival the dog was contained by the owner.
