Several events are planned for the annual Art on the Green and River Festival events. On Friday, the Art on the Green artists competition officially begins at 1pm as will the silent auction. There will also be a Competitors’ Silent Auction.
For kids, the Creation Corner will start at 3pm with a one act play starting at 4:00 pm and another Kid’s Creation Corner at 6pm.
The Sculpture Showcase Unveiling will begin at 5pm. This will be your chance to see all of the new sculptures that will line the street of Uinta Drive for 2012-13.
On Saturday, the Silent Auction resumes at 9am, the Kid’s creation corner starts at 10am, and a one act play begins at 11:00 am. The artistic competition officially ends at 1pm, judging begins at 2:00, the Silent & Competitor’s Auctions End at 6pm and the Art on the Green Dinner & Awards banquet begins at 6:30pm. For River Festival, August 17 and 18 is a celebration of the Green River and considered an oasis in the “High Desert Country” of Southwest Wyoming.
On Saturday, reoccurring favorites like the Cajun Shrimp Boil, as well as new activities, vendors and live entertainment will be held. From blues and brews to canines and cars, there is something for everyone.
You can tour the garden of micro-brews under the big Corona tent when the Festival kicks off on Friday at 3pm. This is followed by the Free Kids Games when kids go wild at the time-honored festival games; the Cajun Shrimp Boil and a concert throughout the evening. Root on your lucky rubber ducky as she races down the river at the Great Duck Race.
A spectacular fireworks show will wrap up the first night of the festival.
On Saturday, August 18, the day starts at 6am with a bang as runners take off on the 8th annual Run with the Horses Marathon, a half marathon and a 10K run. That’s followed by the Lucky 13 Horse Poker Run, a Car Show on Evers Park, free kids games, the Micro Brew Garden, a Dog Fetching Competition, sing the blues with Blind Dog Smokin, a dog show and at 3pm the Extreme Trail Challenge.
