Steven G Balizan, age 54, of Green River was arrested on 11/8/12 at 06:49 hours on W Teton Blvd for Driving While Intoxicated. Dispatch advised officers of a traffic complaint where a car nearly struck another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle called police and advised they were following the car that almost crashed into them. Officers located the suspect vehicle and observed the suspect vehicle almost hit a parked car. Officers stopped the suspect vehicle and contacted the driver, Balizan. Subsequent investigation showed Balizan was intoxicated and he was taken into custody. A breath test at the jail showed Balizan’s blood alcohol concentration at over double the legal limit.
Officers investigated a report of Shoplifting on Uinta Drive when the manager of a business reported a juvenile male stole a bicycle chain and left without paying. A video of the theft was obtained and the investigation is ongoing.
A Stalking report was taken on Shoshone Ave; a report was forwarded to the County Attorney’s office for review.
A set of keys were found on W 2nd N and turned in to the GRPD.
Officers removed an animal carcass from S 4th W.
Officers assisted Probation and Parole agents by witnessing clients’ drug tests on Commerce Way.
Officers were dispatched to a dog at large complaint on Pennsylvania Ave; a Weimeraner type dog was impounded.
Officers responded to a Prowler call on Cumorah Way; the area was checked and no suspect was located.
Officers assisted ambulance personnel with an intoxicated male on Railroad Street.
On 10/14/12 at approximately 6:11 pm officers were dispatched to a traffic crash involving a motorcycle versus a car. The driver of the motorcycle, Michael S Wilder, was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation into the crash began and rumors of cell phone use by the driver of the car were looked into and disproved and there was no indication of alcohol or drug use by the juvenile driver.
The Coroner’s office drew blood and urine samples from the deceased for toxicology testing. The samples were sent to Wyoming Chemical Testing in Cheyenne for analysis. The results showed Wilder had a blood alcohol concentration of .13% and metabolized cocaine in both his blood and urine. The investigation has reached a conclusion and the reports were forwarded to the County Attorney’s office for review.
