This division is an enterprise fund made up of three subdivisions: Collection (530), Recycling (535) and Landfill Operations (540). The division is staffed by a total of 11 full time employees and weekly part time help. Training consists of on-the-job training and annual participation in State Solid Waste Training Seminars.
The responsibility of the Solid Waste Division is to provide the community of Green River residents and businesses with waste disposal options while being good stewards of the environment.

The Solid Waste Division collects, transports to the Landfill and recovers solid waste generated by the citizens and businesses of Green River.
On June 18, 2013 a Solid Waste 5 Year Plan was approved by City Council. This plan brings all parts of the community together including city/county government, corporations, industry, local business, schools, volunteers and residents who will all participate in the projects. Finally, the plan offers projects planned over the course of the next five years to accomplish the operations restructuring to meet the diversion rate goal of 30% by 2020 through various types of waste reduction and recycling initiatives.
