Recycling is the community, individuals and businesses working together in stewardship to benefit the environment by removing recyclables from the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) stream. Thus creating more space in the Landfill for a longer life span and reducing the impact for ground water contamination.
The concept of recycling is based on the three R’s:
Reduce – the amount of waste you generate
Reuse – material as much as possible, then
Recycle – after recycling, what is left is less waste for disposal
All Types of Paper Products Accepted
New to Green River Recycling: Plastics
What Else Can you Recycle? What not to Recycle?
The City organization is committed to sustaining the Recovery/Recycling Program and continues to support the program expansion and encourage partnerships.
The Division hosts a Recycling Task Force with meetings once per month; feel free to join the group.
Special Events Annually:
- America Recycles Day – November 15th
- Earth Day – April 22nd
Check the City Calendar on the Home page for meeting dates and times as well as special events
Separation of Materials is Important to a Sustainable Recycling Program
Manufacturers DO NOT want contaminated goods. Contamination causes high labor cost and/or low prices.
In an effort to keep the City of Green River Recycling Program cost down, we need your help!
- Please do not leave any other trash on the ground around the recycling area
- The Landfill is available free of charge to residents for their trash disposal
- Please read and follow signage to insure recyclables are placed in the proper bins free of contamination
Working together ensures program success for our community now and future generations.
Thank you for responsibly using the Recycling Centers and following the rules that apply.
