History of Fire Department
Since 1893
The Green River Fire Department was organized in 1893, and received $50 per quarter for operating costs. Mr. E.R. Horne was made captain, and he organized a company of volunteers. Since then there have been 11 chiefs. Mike Kennedy is the current Fire Chief, and Mike Liberty and Dea Cargile are the Assistant Chiefs.
Responding to More Than 300 Calls a Year
The Green River Fire Department responds to more than 300 calls per year. We have a contract to provide fire protection to the Jamestown Fire District.
