Green River Police Department
The Citizens Academy is a seven day program for citizens interested in learning more about how their police department operates or an overview of the profession for anyone thinking about a career in law enforcement. The seven day program meets, one night a week for seven weeks, consists of classroom and hands on instruction. Patrol duties, investigations and special assignments will be some of the police functions covered by the curriculum. The class will be instructed by officers and other specialists who will provide real life experience and expertise.
Classes will meet at the Green River Police Department from 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm beginning on Monday 02/06/17 and run every Monday night concluding on 03/20/17.
Academy Entry Standards
For acceptance into the Green River Citizens Academy, an individual must meet the following minimum standards.
Be at least 18 years of age.
Live in Sweetwater County, Wyoming.
Have no prior felony convictions and no misdemeanor convictions for offenses involving violence or weapons.
Have no misdemeanor convictions/arrests, excluding traffic violations within a twelve month period prior to this academy application.
There is no fee for participation in the Green River Police Department Citizens Academy.
Attendance and Completion Standards
As space is limited, all classes must be attended. Attendees may be excused from one class if arrangements are made with the Academy’s Coordinator.
The following have been established as minimum standards for completion.
No more than one excused absence.
Participation in hands-on exercises.
Conduct conducive to the goals established for the Academy.
