GREEN RIVER POLICE DEPARTMENT
JUNIOR CITIZEN’S ACADEMY
The four-day program consists of classroom and hands-on instruction for citizens who are interested in how their police department operates. The history of the Green River Police Department, patrol functions, investigations, animal control and special assignments will be some of the items covered in the course. The class will be instructed by officers and other specialists who will provide real life experience and expertise
Classes will meet at the Green River Police Department 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., for four consecutive days beginning June 7, 2016 through June 10, 2016.
ACADEMY ENTRY STANDARDS
For acceptance into the Junior Citizen’s Academy, an individual must meet the following minimum standards.
Be 12 to 17 years of age.
Live and attend school in Sweetwater County.
Have no prior felony convictions and no misdemeanor convictions for offenses involving violence or weapons.
Have no misdemeanor arrests, excluding traffic violations within twelve months prior to this academy application.
There is no fee for participation in the Green River Police Departments Jr. Citizen’s Academy.
ATTENDANCE AND COMPLETION STANDARDS
As space is limited, all classes must be attended. Students may be excused from one class if arrangements are made with the Junior Citizen’s Academy Coordinator.
The following have been established as minimum standards for completion:
No more than one excused absence.
Participation in hands-on exercises
Conduct conducive to the goals established for the Academy.
