The G.R.E.E.N. Program

Paper August 07th, 2008
Established to assist Green River residents experiencing difficulties in paying their City utility bills, the G.R.E.E.N. Program is a cooperative effort between the City of Green River, the Food Bank of Sweetwater County, and the citizens of Green River who share our concern in helping their neighbors. In June of 1990, the G.R.E.E.N. Program began with a start-up donation of $2,000 from the City of Green River Governing Body. The Food Bank of Sweetwater County is currently providing necessary screening for the program, to determine those applicants meeting eligibility requirements. Green River citizens can make contributions of their own by adding a donation to their monthly utility payment. The City maintains financial accountability for the program by utilizing a separate Fund in our accounting system to track all donations and disbursements related to the program. Contributions are tax deductible and every penny of every dollar donated goes directly to helping Green River families in need. G.R.E.E.N. Donations We thank the City of Green River residents who have donated and we invite the residents to continue working together to help their neighbors by voluntarily contributing to this beneficial program. Donations can be made by adding to the total amount owing on City utility bills. A check-off space is placed on the utility payment stub allowing you to designate a donation of $1, $5, $10 or other amounts. If you would like to send additional donations, please mail your contribution to: G.R.E.E.N.
