Meet Our Department

The Green River Police Department was founded on August 11, 1868. Thomas J Smith was elected the first town Marshall at that time. Today there are twenty four Sworn Officers in the department: Chief, two Captains, four Patrol Sergeants, one Patrol Corporal, nine Patrol Officers, one Detective Sergeant, one Juvenile Detective - who is also our Therapy K9 Handler, one therapy K9, one General Detective, two School Resource Officers, and two Narcotics Officers. Other Non-Sworn members include; One full-time Evidence & Property/Public Relations Officer, two full-time Animal Control Officers, two part-time Animal Control Officers, two part-time Animal Shelter Attendants, one part-time Nuisance/Restitution Officers, two full-time Administrative Services Technicians, and 18 part-time Crossing Guards. We also have an honorary Jr. Officer, who loves to volunteer and attend events with us.

This is Honorary Jr. Officer Jason Barrera. Jason has always been a big law enforcement advocate and loves spending time with the officers. He was sworn in by Chief Jarvie on June 4, 2019, as our Honorary Jr. Officer.
